Value is a conversation that's been going on for about everything, forever....
Told once: Don't know how many times it got passed down... BUT:
"The only value an object has, is what some fool is willing to give you for it".....

Agree 100% and maybe even Blowout Cards Forums - Sports Cards, Trading Cards, Non Sports and B/S/T (blowoutforums.com) would be good. They have had several posting about prices and pricing of cards. Yes it was a touchy subject there also. Some posts got ugly.
When I tell someone about TCBd I tell them it is a database for trading cards of all kinds and not your normal trading site or a price guide. They allow trading/buying/selling and have a match system to help out and allow prices to be added. Also other great features. They would really have to look at the site and see if it was for them. Many collectors are looking for different things from sites.
One feature of a site will not keep people from using the site. There are a lot of members that just use it to keep their PC list and others just want a good database for cards of all types. (Images, Check lists and sets)
Sorry but your title does not help out. At the start you are calling out the members about their way of thinking. As stated it has been brought up again and again and will be again from someone else.

Kudos Bolo.. I trade here. $ "Value" of a card, unless ure looking to sell, means nothing. So many cards are worth just that. At some point thougth this might be a selling platform but to me iit's THE ONLY place to hang out and trade. Wanna sell? goto Ebay.
Fritts.

Bid me up a Dale Earnhardt prototype the other week...
Ebay had about 10 of them listed...
Most ran at $19.99 or more...
Nabbed it at $.50 and $1.50 postage... always review all the options before bidding on anything....

Ditto. I trade..
But i would look at the Purchase price with out shipping, shipping is not the card value, it is what your willing to pay to get it. Do you add the admission price of a card show, gas usage, maybe over night stay to your cards when bought else where? . lol lol lol..

I discovered this site while looking to buy a Collection from someone. He gave me his username and password to go in and look at his Collection and "value". Before I joined I knew something wasn't right. I learned quick that pricing was not a good source from here. This site is 100 percent top notch for the service it is intended to provide. I buy a lot and trade a lot. I sell some, and when I do sell, I definitely look at the shipping price, to get a Buy It Now Price with free shipping. To say that a shipping price is not included in the Card's Value makes no sense to me. I get an average of the last 10 Cards sold, shipping included, and I determine my BIN price. I can tell you from competing to buy a Walter Payton RC for the last month, that trying to nail down one price for that Card, would be a shot in the dark. Auction is the best way to get one but as I want to Complete my 76 Set a BIN may be how I go. In short...thanks TCDB...you have been so valuable to this Collector even if my Collection is not worth $126,479.52

There is no way shipping price should be included in a value. If you are buying a card from me in person what would you say when I up the price $5 and say "well the shipping needs to be included in this"?

What? First of all that makes no sense.
Any money you put into a product is it's value. Including free shipping will get the best price.

There are so many variables in the pricing of cards. Yes, shipping could be considered, but it really isn't a big factor into the price of a card and what its currently trading or selling for on multiple platforms. I usually look for a median price and go with that as a ball park figure...with a plus or minus range. For example, I am taking four 1955 Topps cards/star players to a baseball card show here in Wichita in the next couple of weeks with the hopes of trading these to one of the dealers for something that I don't already have. Using the grade on each card and looking at eBay comps. I can easily say that the price for all four cards is between $1000 to $1200. Why did I say eBay...becasue I can pretty much garrantee you that the majority of card dealers go to their phones to look up comps on eBay as a source for pricing. Outside of looking for recently sold items on ebay, they don't really take shipping into consideration...even if they plan of flipping them on eBay rather than at a card show. Obviously I am referring to high priced cards.
