Went to send cards (10) to a member in Hawaii, the postal clerk informed me that the postage would be $27. When I asked why, they stated very matter of factly that Hawaii isn't part of the US and is international. After a meeting of the minds (3-4) people they decided that Hawaii is indeed a US state and postage would be 4.79 (BMWT) They also discovered that postage is "normal" to all US territories but the clerk also seemed to think Puerto Rico and Guam are near each other......they are both on planet earth after all! lol

Somehow not surprised, but still sooooo disappointing. Really?! So Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Guam are all islands in tropical climates so they must be near each other and not part of the US (ends at Cali I guess). I've been to Guam, there NOTHING near Guam.....

I wonder if they made that mistake on other people. Did they fail geography or something?

They must, it wasn't just a brain fart. I also just noted that it took 3-4 workers to figure out the right answer. It's almost like it's something inside that PO's water.

People are BAD at geography.
Before she retired, my mother worked as a teacher's assistant for a few years. She was in a kindergarden classroom and the teacher asked the new student where they moved to town from. The child told her Alaska.
The teacher asked the student how they got from Alaska to Massachusetts. The child said they drove. The teacher said that can't be right....Alaska is an island.
The other TA agreed.
My mom was shocked. To add insult to injury, the room had no map or globe to prove to the "educators" that Alaska was in fact "connected" to the rest of North America (unlike on some maps, it's not actually floating randomly in a box next to Hawaii).

Maybe convince them Canada is a US territory too, so we can get stuff shipped up here a bit cheaper.
