I have spent from May to now getting my football cards organized and catauloging them here. I am probably only 2/3rds done with football and it is my littlest collection. It is fun going through the cards but it is a lot of work. That is all, just needed to express that it is a lot of work. Have a great week everyone.

I know what you mean. I always had my cards sorted by last name. Now in the process of putting them in order by year only because I found I was getting doubles. I havent started my tradeable yet. Not looking forward to that. My collection isn't even that big

I hear you!
I recently spent an inordinate amount of time getting everything from my collection catalogued into this site. You will feel a welcome sense of relief and accomplishment when you are done. Also, it makes trade proposals MUCH easier too!
Good luck with your ongoing endeavor.

I get it. I'm shocked by the amount of time I've spent organizing my collection. And sometimes I look around and feel like I've hardly made any progress. The worst is when I get halfway through a major organizing project, realize I don't like it, get another idea and then start all over again. Anyways I don't know if I'll ever be done organizing but I make it point to every once in while put orgainizing aside, grab glass of wine and sit down for an hour with one of my completed binders and just look at the cards I've collected and orgainized. Smell the roses as they say. Sometimes, not all the time, in those moments I realize that all the hard work and time was worth it.

Yup. I spent the year plus of Covid doing that. 100K cards I think.

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

It's a lot of work, but i think it is my favorite poart of collecting though. I took over my dad's old baseball card collection and had an absolute blast going through it, figuring out what everything was, and sharing the results with my dad. He had no idea he had been sitting on 3 Yount rookies from when he was in grade school. There is a lot of fun things to do with trading, but nothing beats going through the collection to see what you have.

I am in the process right now of reorganizing my entire football card collection (50-60k I reckon) into team/player order after many years in set order. At the same time, I will be logging them into TCDB. I wanted to get a different view of my collection, and cut out some of the duplicates I have amassed.
I logged in my smaller baseball and basketball collections to TCDB last year to see if really wanted to try football. It'll be a big job, but after 30+ years of collecting, I know at least one thing about my collection: it's not so much the "having" that I enjoy; it's the "doing."
Good luck to everybody who is in the midst of a massive, painstaking resort!

Finally finding a place to track my cards, my trading card inventory has grown now that I've found Tcdb.
It was a great day when I discovered this site and its members!
