Not sure if im in the minority here or not. But I hate all the parallels and inserts they make now days. I miss the days of large sets of 500 + cards with only a couple of inserts. Sets for me arent as much fun when its only 100 or so cards. Will we ever see those larges sets again or are those days completely over?

I feel you. I loved seeing the linemen getting cards. When they have inserts they should be a part of the main set.

Yep. All the more reason for me to work on sets from the junk era for brands I haven't completed.

Agreed. While I don't mind a handful of inserts/parallels it's definitely gotten out of hand. It's the same group of players/rookies in each set.

I am with you on that one. I have one parallel set which I am trying to collect, just because I loved the variation of cardstock they used. I hadn't seen anything lit it at the time. Some insert sets appeal to me, but not too many. I see Upper Deck doing insert sets out the ying yang. While some of them seem like good ideas to me, it seems like far too many at once. I see Topps doing it with parallels. FAR, far too many to keep up with. Every colour under the rainbow, plus Mothers' Day, Memorial day, Winter theme, etc, etc. I'm out.
I suppose if you liked a particular player or team, you could go for the parallel colour that matches their uniform though. If only each one wasn't more scarce than the next.

A random thought that has perplexed me....#2 draft pic, 10 years in NFL and Rick Mirer has 905 cards, Clyde edwards Helaire with 1 yr in NFL has almost 2900 so far. I'm assuming you're talking about baseball, but with all the parralells it's almost like they are recreating the junk wax era.

A big issue is I am currently putting in all my prizms from football and they have so many parallels that it is just ridiculous. Why create 15 different versions of one card. It does not make sense.

Yeah it does. There's a market for it as people will pull to flip them. The lower the SN, regardless of design, the more you can move it for.

There is a 2020 jaylon Smith card that I find annoying (no uni, just sitting on a bench at the combine) 64 variations spread out across 3 diff sets.....where does it end? Lol

That's just it. It doesn't end. As long as people are feeding the beast it will continue to grow. I'll take 50s Topps any day.
