I'm 60, so fall into the old codger who loves old stuff camp. But, I fell hard for digital photography. When the concept first arrived, I thought there was no way digital photography could replace film. A few years later, I was spending money on cameras and software, and it really opened up a whole new world for me. I enjoy looking at my photos on my computer or my phone and the ease in which I can share them with others.
I've found myself debating whether I really want to acquire any more cardboard either. I love being able to peruse a gallery of vintage or modern cards on TCDB.
But, collecting baseball cards is far more rooted in my youth than photography. I enjoy looking at cards and sorting cards because that's what I did as a kid. Collecting carboard makes me happy. I already know I enjoy looking at digital images of baseball cards. But it doesn't connect with me like the tangible cards I now collect and will continue to collect.
And if the NFTs attract the speculator/investor types out of cardboard, I'm happy with that too.
It's all good.
Baseball cards make me happy.
Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play. Today.
