Thanks YoRicha for the explanation.

If you can rip that card without mangling the whole thing, I'd say go for it. There are plenty of ripped cards for sale on E-bay, so it's still very collectible. Right now you have one card, but you could have 2.

Got a Kris Bryant last year out A&G. I ended up ripping it and got a cool Roberto Clemente mini stain glass. The other two cards where just high number minis.

If you are going to open it, take a razor blade and make one slit on the back and pull out the card. That is what I did with the Zenith Dare to Tear 5x7 cards back in 98. This way the original in still in ok shape as a filler for someone's collection.

For what it's worth, I see a different Soto SN99 on ebay with no bids, for $2 with free shipping. It's like a real live version of Let's Make a Deal. I hope I'm never in a situation where I have to make your decision, or if I am, it's someone I cant stand, like Wilson Contreras. Tearing up a card of him sounds like fun.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

That's kind of the whole gimmick of rip cards. Do you want to rip it open and see what's on the inside? Or do you just want to leave it how it is?

I have never liked the idea or gimmick concept of the Rip cards. It reduces a card to being just a fancy wrapper. Needless to say I will not rip them I have one unripped RIP card I got years ago in a group box break. It is still unripped and will remain so while in my possession. Funny how theyi are sooo valuable when they are unripped, but as soon as you rip the sucker it is valuless even if the player featured is the biggest superstar of the game. As to what the inside mini card is they are many times not worth the bother of ripping in the first place.
NOTE: When I first saw the title of this post thread I was thinking "Rest In Peace" and thought it would be about memorial cards (ex: 1964 Topps Baseball 550 Ken Hubbs In Memoriam) and was very surprised when a Juan Soto card was being discussed.
