Got a cool announcement, my LCS and I are partnering up to offer a free collecting class in his store in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 7th. I will be showing collectors some of the free online resources they have at their disposal, and doing a demo on Trading Card Database so that people can get started with doing inventory, wantlists, and hopefully trading. I've already been doing this for a while in the shop with individual people, and eventually they asked if I would just do a class on it, so here we are!
I don't have any video gear outside of a cell phone, but I will be looking into how to broadcast or tape the session as well for remote folks. This will be fun!
UPDATE -> Class video is here! - https://www.tradingcarddb.com/Videos.cfm/sid/209948/2020-Topps?MODE=SENT

Great initiative. I have encouraged individuals to at least look at the site as a possible hobby tool but showing some how the site can be used should help them in determining if it is for them.

Great idea and good luck with the class, so far I have had zero luck convincing some of the people I know to use this site.

Great idea, Ian. May it go well and increase collecting in general, but also our (TCDB) knowledge base with new collectors.

Awesome idea. I feel like you should get a good number of people unfamiliar with the site because they won't be the type to have looked for something like this--or even be aware that it exists--so I think you'll really be helping them out and gaining TCDB a few members too

That's great that you're collecting/teaching skills are in demand. Don't be surprised if the class evolves into several different kinds of classes focusing on vintage, modern, errors/variations, organizing, storage, grading, etc. at beginning/intermediate/advanced levels. I'd love to see this become a trend in LCS' across the country. Wishful thinking perhaps?
