Hi all,
I am going to be in Florence during the next week and I thought it might be fun to find a shop that would sell trading cards. I don't really care which sport, but I imagine soccer cards would be easiest to find. Does anyone here have any advice as to where I should search for cards, and how I should ask for the cards in something approaching Italian?

Dave, I've found current year soccer cards at a convenience store in Russia when we were there a couple of summers ago.
But the place I'd look for is anyplace that sells old postcards. I found such a place in Belgium, but unfortunately I had but five minutes before our tour bus left to really dig through everything. I found a few treasures; movie star cards from the 50's.
This last trip I found some cards at a port strip of local vendors in Canada and bought a set of Nolan Ryan card stamps.
Just keep an eye out. Blessings on your trip, and have fun, whether you find cards or not.

If you take your wife to the leather market in Florence, you will probably be allowed to buy 10x the normal amount of cards when you get home. The leather market was one of the most fun experiences we had in Italy. The customs official actually laughed at me that I could match every leather purse to a female family member to which we were gifting them. Of course my wife had an ample selection as well. Very good times.

The last time I was there, I found soccer cards and stickers in kiosks and magazine stores. those places usually sell those kind of collectables.

For what it's worth, Magic the Gathering is big in Italy so those cards are also out there.

Just keep in mind the exchange rates I paid 3 KD which is a bit more than 9 USD for a pack of 2018 Donruss soccer the other day, pretty not that much at Targets

great thread for information as my wife and I will be spending most of the year in Italy after I retire in a couple of years. we will be living about an hour south of Florence so close enough for road trips. i have even toyed with the idea of contacting COMC to set up a European processing center/warehouse for cards to stay active in the community.
