I used to sell 100K commons at a time for $200 and they'd go fast. I advertized them as commons so no one would feel duped. I didn't go through most of the boxes but they were labelled as such when i bought out a massive collection of 300+ monster boxes.

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

If the "-present" endpoint is accurate, I would jump on the $200. If "1990-present" is really "1990-1993" than I would be skeptical. You probably don't want 300 copies of a 1993 Donruss Dan Peltier. That card might be on a few wantlists, but not 300 of them. There weren't that many different sets in that era, so duplication will be heavy.
If you trade these cards, maybe an average of 10 at a time, at 70 cents per envelope, you are going to add $8,400 in postage expense to trade all of them away. Consider that if you factor in the "they might all be on somebody's wantlist".

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

David, Peltier's mom is on the phone and wants to talk to you.

I have bought a couple of big lots recently and have gotten some pretty good cards. I love the treasure hunt part. You never know what is in the box until you dive in!

I always do a little dig first to make sure it's not only bulk of certain players. As long as there's a good mixture I'll consider it.

Do it. I bought a collection last year from a Database member....I don't know exactly how many cards yet but it literally filled my brothers car. I have gone through less than half of it so far and it's been amazingly fun. I knew going in that it was going to be largely duplicates but I still feel like I'm coming out ahead of the deal. In fact, when I got it and started going through them, I decided to add some money to the deal...the original agreement was that I would just pay shipping but once I saw what I got I couldn't just do that.
I have sent out some of the cards to other Database members and some went out as Christmas presents, not sure what I will do with them all yet but I have the space and time to not have to worry about it. Combined with what I already have I could probably start an NBA themed version of Card barrel, but then it would be a business and not a hobby.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. If you dont already have a large stock of these and you might need a few for your own collection, do it for $200. I would in that scenario. But because of the quantity i already have of the late 80s and early 90s, i wouldn't as I know there is nothing in those years I don't already have. But some do need some so I still send some off in trades.
You also need the space to store them lots of space

David, so much truth to it. I first heard it when I was in the military learning planning of operations. But it applies to all facets of life..
Still on holidays for 2 more days. There had been a dry spell in trades but since I went on holidays, 5 have come in. Thankfully I have been able to stay in touch though I only do it for an hour once every 2 days

I wanted to follow up with an update. I didn't end up buying this massive collection. I wasn't sure I was ready to deal with 160,000 cards of mostly commons. I did though end up picking up a collection last night that seems much more reasonable to deal with. I am in area with a low population (my town has 456 people) and I am about an hour away from any cities of 10,000 or more. Collection opportunities don't pop up often and I think I will do pretty well on this one. I would estimate about 3500 cards from the 90's for $75. I looked through it pretty well and I don't think their are any major hits but a lot of good cards and a lot of higher end brands with lots of stars and some rookies. I believe there are multiple rookies of guys like Marvin Harrison and Tony Gonzalez. Multiples of Brett Favre, John Elway, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders. I'm going to log what I picked up in a separate collection at first to see how I make out.
Just the fun I am having digging through and organizing the cards are well worth the 2 cents per card in my book.
