63000 cards for 300 bucks sounds fair. Thats .005 cents per card. 1/2 a cent per card is pretty cheap. Good luck. And remember to do the transaction somewhere safe.

It is difficult to tell if it is worth $300 with only being able to see boxes and not actual the range in issue years of the cards. If they are from1987-1994, then you would really want to look through a large sample of them tomake sure that there are actually cards you need in your own collection. As well, you would want to see ifthey have been picked through and if you are realy just buying a large lot of commons. In baseball, if you don't see the familiar names of Griffey, Thomas, Ripken, Rodriguez, Rivera, Maddux, etc. then they have been picked through and it would not be worth the money. As well, if you don't seeinsert cards or parallels, then you are just buying the base and / or commons of those years. Same would apply for all sports.
If they are newer (or older but I doubt it), then it may be worth it depending again if they have been picked through. At this point, it would be for you to decide if there are enough cards from your Want List to justify the large expense, or if you think there are enough cards that others may want in trade or cash to increase the overall return.
I have often bought large lots of baseball cards (as others have on this site) and there are hours of pleasure in going through them and adding them to your collection. But if you don't properly assess the lot before you commit, there can also be hours of regret when you see that the entries in your own collection are few.
Wish you luck,

I concur with sandyrusty's points. My initial thought upon looking at the pictures was, "What's inside the boxes?"
An FYI I bought about half of what you are purchasing in amount of cards, but sifted through it and found mega superstars from the era gone, Griffey, Jr. and Jeter - I already anticipated that - but found some very interesting stuff and other stars and rookies that I ended up keeping for my own collection for $75.00 from a dealer. It contained primarily cards from '86-'99.
I'd suggest going through the boxes because most of the time sellers are just wanting to recoup what they've invested and that rarely will happen if they're modern cards.

If it is for the fun or love of the hobby, do it.
If it is for an investment, buy scratchers instead.
Also, is this a "collection" or an accumulation?
Good luck and have a great day!

So I bought it.... it is very orginized..
year....set...card number
four catagories like the picture said basketball(28K), football(18K), baseball(13K), and Multi-sport (4K)
I did get it without looking through it, but based on how organized it was and the extras 8x10's and 5x7's of HOF's... the graded cards and most in all new boxes (18 @ $5.59 each) the dude was well dressed and had a nice house... and the fact that he said he was only interested in Stealers so it might be short of of them players it was a great deal for me to get .. Ill keep you posted on what I find

I hope you find it to be worth your money. Just b/c the guy was well-dressed (or that he lives in a nice house) means nothing in the card world. Also, new boxes for old cards is not normally a good sign. Appearances can always be deceiving. I just got unknown thousands of cards in old crappy boxes and it is turning out to be a fantastic addition to my collection. Almost everything in this collection has been at least NearMint-Mint (a graded 7) condition. Some of the best cards are easily Mint, even though the boxes they were in are nearly junk now.
I really hope you find some awesome stuff in there! Keep us updated as you progress through the boxes.
