I was fortunate to find my fiancé. She was already into baseball and Magic the Gathering and when we met, I was into coin collecting. I dropped coin collecting about two years into our relationship and transitioned back to my childhood focus of baseball cards. She has supported my hobby because she has her own hyper-fixations as well. 

We also collect Ichiro cards because she is half-Japanese and has a good memory from her childhood where he held her and there are some photos somewhere (I haven't seen them though). Apparently, they have a signed ball from his NPB days over in Kobe, where her grandparents live. 

Overall, I think it's more about finding someone understanding about your interests and not dealing with those who insult them. I've dated people before who made fun of mine, and those relationships died quickly. 

When I separate the mail I'll tell my wife, "My friends send me cards. Your friends send you bills."

My wife likes that I have a hobby. She never collected cards though. Plus, I never break the bank though on cards/boxes

My wife has no interest in sports or card collecting.    She has NO problem with me collecting for my PC.  She has made it clear to me.  "Why buy cards to trade or sell when you can buy cards for your PC.

But she will buy a large piece of fabric and cut it into pieces just to sew together again to make a quilt.  She has as much fabric as I have cards in the basement. 

Buy her cloth cards. 

I had copies of the cards from Tom O. dream team put on cloth and she made me a quilt.  Offence on the top and defense on the bottom.  All lined up with ST off to the side.  Plus several other ones so I'm not complaining.
