HI- I am looking to buy 1978, 1979 and 1980 topps baseball sets. I am collecting the set from each year of my life and this is what I still need. I have been away from collecting for a long time so I am not sure of what these sets go for. Thanks, everyone!

While I don't have complete sets from those years, I can probably put together some pretty solid starter sets from each of those years if you are interested in building the sets.

I don't have any extras of those years but I would suggest start out by going to Ebay and looking at sold listings for those sets to get an idea on the current market price. That is most important so you know what you should expect to pay.

What you did here was good. You may be able to save a few bucks since someone can save the Ebay fees. There are also quite a few Facebook groups that are dedicated to buying and selling trading cards as another option.

Hopefully, you and a member can come up with a deal that works for both of you.

Thank you for the tips, I will look on eBay and see what I can find. I loved collecting as a kid, but I was never I to collecting specific cards, just creating the sets. Hopefully I can get caught up!!

Depends on the set, but I can probably put together several hundred cards (no duplicates) from each of those sets.  Send me a DM if you want to explore further.

I'm currently building a second '78 set.  Am down to about half the stars and team cards, still need most of the Record Breakers and Leaders, and a handful of commons.  Would be willing to sell now or when I'm done....

I have an extra GD-VG-EX 1980 set I built from my extras I pulled from packs in 1980, its pretty clean, the Henderson is nice and none of the team cards are marked.

I also have an extra FR-GD 1980 set I also built from extras, its clean but has some FAIR cards in it, HOFs are nice as they are all my childhood ones, but teams cards are marked, and some blemished cards.  No other writing or markings other than normal team card checks.  No missing paper or anything like that.  Just a lower grade set.

I know no one wants them, but I have 2 similar 1981 sets and just in case I have 7 or 8 or each year from 1982-1989 built from my childhood pack pulls as well.  Most of them include all the variants like the 1982 Foster and Seaver and 1986 number mix-ups etc.

Same goes for Donruss/Fleer from 1981-1985 or so.  Think I have spare 81 Master Sets of both, and sets that include most if not all the errors and variations.

My dad was an early box and case buyer back in the old days, we had lots of cards in the 80s. :)

Do you have an idea about what you would want for the gd-vg- ex 1980 set? Thanks!
