With Topps getting bought by Fanatics and the liklihood that they will be doing Football cards again, I am thinking about building some Topps Football sets from when I was a kid. I was recently (about a year ago) gifted some less than mint (but OK for me) sets of 1981-1983 Topps Football sets. They are really fun to look at. I'm getting down to some very expensive cards on 1970-72 Topps Baseball, so I thought I would build 1984-1989 Topps Football sets. I built the 1990 Topps set when I was a kid and finished it here on TCDB a couple years ago. I also traded away hundreds of 80's football cards because I previously had no interest in doing football sets. However, I love getting cards in the mail and I still have 18,000+ cards on my For Sale/Trade List. This gives me a reason to whittle this list down. I may build 1991-2015 someday, but I'm not going there yet. I'll take it a few sets at a time.
I don't care about the copyright line (C* vs D*, etc). I'm not a master set builder - just trying to get one of each numbered card and I do prefer to get COR versions if there are any known ERR cards in this era. Several have made offers already - Thank you!
I can already see the difficulty in adding the entire set to my wantlist with all the variations, because I don't care which copyright 'version' I get and trying not to get doubles. I do keep a separate spreadsheet so I don't get too many doubles during these transactions.
If you have a full set that you'd like to part with for a reasonable cost or for some cards I have on my trade list, please make me an offer. I'll listen and try to work out a deal.
On to the next adventure - Football cards! I can already hear my wife's lack of enthusiasm. Her eyerolls are deafening...
