Topps became the official baseball card of the MLB in 2009. Series One of this set was the first product released under the deal.

The "Topps All-Star Rookie" trophies were silver instead of the usual gold for this set.

Tommy Hanson (#20), Omir Santos (#450), Travis Ishikawa (#493), Chris Getz (#508) and Nolan Reimold (#653) were each named to the 2009 Topps All-Star Rookie Team but their cards are missing the trophy designation.

Cards MM1 to MM5 were handed out in 5 card packs at the All-Star fan fest in Anaheim.

#20 Tommy Hanson - Tommy Hanson was named to the 2009 Topps All-Star Rookie Team but his #20 card is missing the trophy designation.

#36 Tobi Stoner - The blue accent on the front is inconsistent with the rest of the team design (orange).

#68 Brandon Inge - UER: Listed as Pitcher ("P") on front, should be Third Base ("3B")

#131 Dustin Richardson - The blue accent on the front is inconsistent with the rest of the team design (red).
