- Wax packs contained 17 cards for 40 cents.
- The first regular-issue Topps set to include one Glossy Rookie insert card in every jumbo pack.
- The only regular-issue Topps set to include wax box cards on the side panel of wax boxes.
- Wood borders resemble the 1962 Topps set.
- Last player cards for Pete Rose and Reggie Jackson are included in this set.
- Cello packs were $0.69 for 31 cards.
- Rack packs contained 48 cards plus 1 All-Star Game Commemorative insert card (Glossy All-Star).
- Jumbo packs contained 100 cards plus 1 Special Rookie insert card (Glossy Rookie).
- This was the first time Topps used the Topps All Star Rookie cups on the card fronts since 1978.
- Card #694 features the final Topps card of Hall of Famer Phil Niekro.

My favorite topps baseball set!

I have fond memories of this set. It being one of the earliest Topps wax packs I can remember acquiring as a child. Used to walk down to the local news agency and buy packs with any spare change I could muster. Looking back, I still have good memories of this set but they sure are ugly with that 70's wood paneling... Odd they waited till the late 80's to make a set like this, I think I'd be more understanding with the wood paneling's had it been a set produced during the 70's... Where is the wicked cool neon of the 80's? | ||
As a kid, all I wanted was Will Clark. I love this set. | ||
