1990 Donruss
User Comments |
Agree that the cards do not look that great. Have always thought it strange that Donruss sort of went backwards after the famous '89 UD release Feels like it would not be until 1992 when Donruss would begin to catch up with some large changes. The 1989 release, I understand its boring look, as not many knew what UD doing to change the landscape. Yes, both 1990 and 1991 were not so appealing.
To me, this is the ugliest set of cards. There are a lot of errors and now we have multiple VARs. Not Donruss' best year.
Not sure if this was the first cards in a pack I ever opened but it is the one I remember. I remember getting a box of 88,89,90 Donruss for Christmas one year and had the entire living room full of these cards.
Anyone have information on the 1990 Donruss baseball with tan/brown backs? i have one, bougt on ebay. Alledgely Baseball card magazine (or some publication) featured an article on this error variant in the early 90's. The cards were supposedly found sporadically in wax packs.

A rather loud design and not one of my favorites. Way

The card design was rather odd for this year. The red borders always reminded me of Christmas.
I had never heard of the "errors" involving a few cards with incorrect birthdates on the backs. In checking my set, for all the cards in question I have the birthdate error version. This leads me to believe that perhaps these versions were a result of the production or distribution for Canada, as I put the set together as a kid in eastern Canada, buying packs at local corner stores and trading with friends.

This set has real nice photos but is boring to look at. The borders i feel take away from the player on the card. |
