My main collection is for base sets and common inserts of basic/most-known sets (they also must be licensed). The years I collect and why;
- Baseball - (1952-Current) Baseball is undoubtedly my favorite sport, and I LOVE the junk wax era of these cards. Obviously, the 50s and 60s were a great time for cards, too, but the ugly and overly bright designs of the 80s and 90s will always have my heart. Except for INC vs INC. .
- Football - (2020-Current) This is probably my third favorite sport behind hockey. I would collect hockey cards like a mad woman if they actually sold them near me. I love '90s sets of football, but I can't seem to rationalize losing the space to collect more years of this sport.
- Basketball - (2020-Current) Admittedly, I have no idea why I am collecting this. Somehow, it was also one of the first things I started collecting. I was obsessed with completing the 2023 Donruss set before I sold off half of the cards spontaneously. These definitely aren't high on my priority list, but a complete set will always look good in a binder, regardless of the sport.
Personal Collections for My Friends and I
None of these PCs are a priority at all. It's just a way I like to share my hobby with others. It's my love language.
These lists are also a mess haha.
MY PC - Cody Bellinger, the Chicago Cubs, and the Carolina Panthers
- Cody Bellinger - All cards, even unlicensed, although they aren't exactly at the top of the list. His Chicago cards are my favorite, but I would love to get a few nice-looking rookie cards of him with the Dodgers as well.
- Chicago Cubs - Where I live, supporting the STL Cardinals is the norm, but I just wanted to be different. I kind of started supporting this team as a joke, and now I am completely in love with them. I collect most licensed cards, but I'm not a great fan of tons of common numbered cards (/999, /2024, /750, etc.), so I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with that.
- Carolina Panthers - Now, this team I didn't kinda start supporting as a joke. I completely started supporting it as a joke. My friends and I would joke about the very... unfortunate history that this team has had, and I would always jokingly defend them. I don't think it's a joke anymore. I have also been trying to learn a bit about this history so I can enjoy the cards more. I would also like all of these licensed. I would also like to get some autographs down the line.
My Girlfriend's PC - Nolan Arenado, Justin Fields
- My girlfriend doesn't have a PC, but I have one for her. It's really more for me than it is for her. She does appreciate them, though. She loves both of these players. Maybe not Fields so much now that he didn't really play this 2024 season, but she loved his 23' season. I'd definitely like some higher end cards of these players.
My Other Friend, Mikey's PC - Russell Wilson and the Seahawks
- This is just a small collection I've started putting together for one of my friends. He is a big Seahawks fan and an even bigger Russell Wilson fan. He'd probably sell his soul to meet him.
