Question - how does a player make an unassisted triple play? Catch one, tag one, throw one out? But isn't the thrown out an assist (someone catches it and tags runner)? | ||
No SSGTru if they did that it would be an assisted triple play. Out one is the catched ball out two would be either tagging the player or stepping on the base and out three would be either tagging the player or stepping on the base depending on which way out two was.
An unassisted triple play is 3 outs by a single player. An unassisted triple play usually consists of a hard line drive hit directly at an infielder for the first out, with that same fielder then able to double off one of the base runners and tag a second for the second and third outs.
