The "Top of Topps Football" Wall of Fameby cnangle - 59 cards (Last updated on Mar 11, 2019) |
On display is a card from my collection that I think best represents the set. For most years, that's the key rookie card. For the years I don't have the key rookie, it's probably a HOF Vikings player. However, there are a couple years where a card has some special interest to me, '77 Walter Payton for instance.
I'm sure I will end up changing some of these out as I continue to complete sets, at least I hope so.
41. 1997 Topps #100 Drew Bledsoe
The rookie cards for this year are terrible. I almost feel that the photographers were hazing the rookies and making them pose in stupid ways. "Show me your mean face".
|
42. 1998 Topps #360 Peyton Manning
This set boasts a strong rookie class that includes HOF'er Randy Moss and future HOF'er Peyton Manning.
|
43. 1999 Topps #10 Cris Carter
HOF'er Champ Bailey leads the rookie class for this mediocre set. I chose to display HOF'er Cris Carter because he's awesome and a Viking. SKOL! |
44. 2000 Topps #19 John Unitas
Since I don't have a Unitas card from his playing days on my wall, this is a great chance to get one there.
|
45. 2001 Topps #328 Drew Brees
A fairly decent rookie class that includes HOF'er LaDanian Tomlison and future HOF'er Drew Brees. I hate the S"aints" but Drew Brees has class. "Who Dat?"......so stupid. |
46. 2002 Topps - Topps Collection #149 Marvin Harrison
This set's rookie class doesn't impress me so it allows me to highlight another of my favorite HOF'ers.
|
47. 2003 Topps #97 Peyton Manning
I think Peyton deserves at least two cards on the wall. This is a good looking set and the Colt's colors match the border color pretty well. |
48. 2004 Topps #198 Jerome Bettis
I don't have a lot of this set in my collection. This set contains rookie cards of Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning, but I don't have either card. This card of the "Bus" is more than adequate though. It's a great looking card of a great running back. |
49. 2005 Topps #87 Adam Vinatieri
I only have about 40 cards from this set in my collection. The Aaron Rodgers RC is probably "the card" from this set, but I don't own one.
|
50. 2006 Topps #365 Jay Cutler
The cards from this set remind me of Fruit Stripe gum. I don't have many cards this set in my collection...so Jay Cutler gets the spot. I don't even know who I should replace him with. I guess any Viking would do. Not a great set. |
