by BucCollector - 27 cards (Last updated on Apr 26, 2024)

1. 2023 Topps Bowman University International Trading Card Day #NTCD-BF28 Michael Penix Jr.

Penix played four years at Indiana, but couldn't stay healthy (protection, anyone?). He posted a 12-5 record at IU, but the Hoosiers were 9-19 without him in the lineup.

Penix, of course, enjoyed his best success with Washington, posting 25 wins against just three losses and leading the Huskies to the 2023 National Championship game. He was selected eighth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

2. 2023 Valiant Michigan Wolverines #NNO Jack Tuttle

A transfer from Utah, Tuttle struggled to stay on the field while at Indiana, suffering injuries in 2021 and 2022 while the team posted a 6-18 mark during that span.

Tuttle has had no such issues at Michigan, where he has stayed healthy and is the heir apparent to NFL-bound J.J. McCarthy.

3. 2023 Valiant Michigan Wolverines #NNO A.J. Barner

Barner played for Indiana from 2020 to 2022. As a freshman and sophomore, he appeared in all 20 games for Indiana. As a junior, he was selected a Hoosier team captain, started 10 games, and totaled 28 receptions for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

He found greener grass in Michigan, contributing significantly to the 2023 national championship team.

4. 2023 Bowman University Chrome #21 Cam Camper

A junior college transfer, Camper led Indiana's receivers in receptions and yardage in 2022, despite missing much of the season due to an ACL injury. He reinjured the ACL in 2023, played hurt, and eventually required surgery. He transferred to Boise State at season's end.

5. 2022 Panini Prestige - Xtra Points Astral #196 D.J. Wonnum

LB Wonnum committed initially to Iowa State, then Indiana, and then, finally, South Carolina. He had a nice career there and is now a starting linebacker with the NFL Carolina Panthers.

6. 2022 ONIT Athlete Oregon Ducks #NNO Anthony Jones

Jones started his career at Oregon, transferred to IU in 2022, and played in 12 games for Indiana, recording 12 tackles including half a tackle for a loss before entering the transfer portal, citing "mental health and other personal reasons" for leaving Indiana. He committed to Oregon State, reopened that commitment, and is now bound for conference rival Michigan State.

7. 2021-22 Bowman University #84 Connor Bazelak

A transfer from Missouri, Bazelak was the first IU quarterback to pass for 300 yards in a debut in 24 years. He started nine games as a Hoosier in 2022, throwing for 13 TDs. However, IU won only one conference game that season.

Bazelak transferred again that offseason, to Bowling Green, where he led the Falcons to a 6-5 record and a bowl appearance.

8. 2021 Score - Purple #374 Peyton Ramsey

In 2016, Ramsey played in nine games at IU and was named the Big Ten Conference All-Freshman team. He started all 12 games as a redshirt sophomore and threw for 2,875 yards and 19 touchdowns while running for 354 yards and five touchdowns. He split time with Penix in 1999.

Ramsey.then transferred to Northwestern where he was named third-team all Big Ten and was the Citrus Bowl MVP.

9. 2020 Donruss #332 Lynn Bowden Jr.

Lynn Bowden was a four-star recruit from the class of 2017. He committed to the Hoosiers, then decommitted in favor of rival Kentucky. He started seven games at QB, then switched to WR. He's been in the NFL for three years.

10. 2019 Upper Deck CFL #6 Tre Roberson

An Indiana native, Roberson started sporadically at QB and posted a 3–4 record for his career, including a win over Purdue where he threw for six touchdowns.

The following spring, Roberson followed fellow starting QB Cam Coffman into the transfer portal and moved to Illinois State, where he led the Redbirds to a 23–5 record.

This list was very well researched, and a lot of these names I had forgotten, and others I learned by reading this. What a trip down memory lane! Great job!

Side note, this also depressed the heck outta me!

Yep, excellent list! This is something all college fans have to deal with, just some more than others, I guess. But with the transfer portal and related rules I know we'll be seeing more. AJ Barner was an underrated part of Michigan's success this year.

It's easy to be an Ohio State fan. The rest of us enjoy a challenge/punishment.
