2014 Topps Strata Football Forum

Another stupid set where the hobby and retail base cards are not the same, but I didn't know this until after I entered my cards.  (Hobby - heavy stock, retail - thin stock).  My question is: does anyone know if the rookie variations exist in retail as well as hobby?  We don't have a checklist for retail yet, and I don't want to copy the hobby one unless I  am certain the two checklists are identical, including variations.

On this subject, where is the best place that I could make a note on this set's main page that retail and hobby are different, so others don't make the same mistake I did?  Would it be COMMENTS, or would it be TRIVIA?  I can think of several other sets off the top of my head where the base hobby and base retail are different in some way, and I think there should be something there to warn a person before they start entering/scanning their cards.

I could be wrong but I thought that the crazyness of the variations in Strata were that there was one version for Retail and one for Hobby, neither one had both photo variations. NEVER MIND I noticed the variations are Short Print versions versus the regular base version. Another of the zillion reasons to hate what the card makers are doing in modern times. And people talk about the "Junk Wax" era as if it were a bad thing.

I think in the Comments section.  I would like to see this used more and be more prevalent on the overview page.  There is a lot of information that would be useful to collectors so that they know they are in the right set before entering their collection.  But for the most part, we don't make much use of it, for single cards or for sets.

Thanks Sandy, that's where I'll put it.  I will gradually do the same with other sets I'm aware of with differences, going clear back to some Pacific products 15+ years ago.  And thanks for the link Captkirk.  It doesn't really acknowledge any variations existing in the retail packs.  In fact, the only reference I see to retail is in the user comments, so I'm going to assume there are no rookie variations in the retail and add the checklist as such.  If it turns out they do exist, somebody could always add them later.
