1974 McDonald's San Diego Padres Discs Baseball Forum

This set was issued in the San Diego area beginning with a stadium give-away on July 30, 1974.  The give-away included a plastic baseball that opened, with five player discs, a Padres home game schedule disc and a McDonald's disc announcing the dates of the release of the other 8 player discs inside.  The remainder of the discs could be had at McDonald's restaurants in the area. I bought a complete set at a Winnipeg card store but the holder was not with it.  Does anyone have a plastic baseball with a McDonald's logo on the bottom of the holder wondering what it may be from, and that does not want it anymore? I would be interested.

Never seen this but it’s a beaut!  I never cared for the food and having suffered thru the long winter of 84 wondering what could have been for the Cubs absent the very existence of the town of SD I would have hated this at the time. But now I see it as the beautiful peice it is and also a good place to stick paper clips or something. How many round cards did it hold and did they make em anywhere else?  Randy 

Stadium giveaway, July 30, 1974. It was the year that the McDonald's owner bought the Padres ball club. Fans receivedd the Ball card holder with 5 player discs, the Ronald McDonald disc, and the Team Schedule disc inside of it. The remaining 8 discs were handed out at follow-on home games as listed on hte back of the Ronald McDonald's disc. 60k were produced of the first discs handed out and 180k were produced of the 8 follow-on discs.

Yes it is a very nice piece now sitting in one of my cabinets holding my set thanks to FiresNBeers.
