Seems to me that a few of the early magic sets have been recreated and the original sets have been renamed to (fake)
There is nothing in notes about what this is supposed to mean.
Here are just some examples you can see in 1994.

Member starste is doing this. I don't know why. Sets that he's adding look identical.

Looking at these a little, one has a white border and one has a black border. This fake one that the forum post is under does have a Release Note.
"Revised is also known as 3rd Edition. The cards have white borders, which indicates they are reprints of earlier releases."
Maybe this Release Note needs to be added to all of the other (Fake) sets?

I do know from a correspondence that starste first language is Italian and not english and he uses google translate. "Fake" might be the best he can come up with for "Reprint."

Yeah, "Fake" needs to be removed from set name. We don't list fake/counterfeit cards.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

If you need help communicating, I have a friend who is bilingual, who has lived in Italy for a couple years who would be more than happy to help out if needed.

I noticed and I think there is some correction project started is doing which the user would be best to explain (I don't want to put words in mouths and am 100% sure on what exactly it is).
Agreed the "fake" is a misnomer as I gather it was the way to separate the old from the new checklist.
I do wonder how people with cards in one set, will see that data transfer to the "new" set.

I have recently reached out to him and received positive communication. We have been working together to try to improve the checklists. Yes, we're using the translating to communicate. It is challenging, but I think we are making some slow progress.
As far as the corrections, I have been helping with some of the edits as I see them, but I don't know of who is leading it and may be coordinating it.

I have been emailing with starste today. The jist of it is he's adding these sets because the images were over-cropped. I have requested that he stop this practice as this is not proper. Looks like we're going to have a bunch of duplicated sets now. [sigh] I don't know these sets well enough to handle that effort.

So, taking a look at the couple earlier sets (1993 Arabian Nights and Beta). I think the issue starste may have with the original sets is the ordering of the checklist. I think at some point the ordering was messed up and not fixed.
My understanding is that, the early sets do not have a card number on them (so NNO), and should otherwise then be listed alphabetically. I don't know how they got a little muddled up, but either way, I think the "new" lists have issue as well since they have numbers for the cards, and Arabian Nights has some cards with two versions, but these are counted as cards (new set has 92 cards, old has 78).
I think starste has great intention, but not sure the execution is there, so may be worth someone with higher comfort/knowledge on set checklist work for the site, reach out to them to guide and ensure the best end result.
Edit - I type slow - the couple response before mine I think deal with my concerns. Thank you!
