#419 both A&B shows
the variation being
the Pirate name on
the back. What is
the difference
between A&B?

I'm a little
curious too. The
images on here for
A&B seem to be the
exact same card.
Digging on the
internet was
inconclusive. I
just find that
there's two error
cards with Pirates
but nothing to
distinguish them.

I think the a and b backs uploaded are the exact same image.

The Standard Catalog only lists two versions of this card, the "Pirates on back" and "Blue Jays on back". Apparently the checklist here came from Beckett, which lists three versions, but makes no distinction between A and B, either in the Almanac or online.

Unless someone comes through with a reason by the end of the week why there should be three versions, we'll drop it down to two.
Thanks,

According to
Beckett's Price
Guides, it's listed
as this:
419A Jesse
Jefferson P1
(Pirates on back)
419B Jesse
Jefferson P2
(Pirates on back)
419C Jesse
Jefferson P3 (Blue
Jays on back)
The P1,P2,P3 refer
to the print run

If P1 and P2 are identical, why do they make any distinction? How would you tell them apart?

Being a big collector at that time, I do remember there being SOME sort of difference between P1 and P2. I'll dig through some of my old Baseball Cards and Sports Collector's Digest magazines and see if I can come up with P1 vs. P2 differences. The Internet was no help.

Couldn't find anything. I looked through about 5 years worth of Baseball Cards magazine. No luck.
