Does anyone know the total number of stickers in the master set? I have accounted for 130 different front/back combinations, so far. I would assume the number is 132, like the 1979 master set. I have narrowed it down to 3 teams' hat sticker that may account for the other 2: Astros, Red Sox, and Yankees. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The post from this link might help some. http://fleersticker.blogspot.com/2008/06/1978-fleer-grand-slam-hi-gloss-baseball.html The comments section appears to have an answer. The Fleer Sticker Project Blog is an excellent source for Vintage sets.

Yeah, thanks, I have seen that post, but it doesn't give a total, like the same site does for the 1979 set.

I have a white New York World Champs sticker with an E1 back. That cards isn't covered in the master set. I reported it as an inaccuracy.

Hi! I put together a spreadsheet of the master set. Most teams have either 4 or 5 stickers a piece, with different combinations of 'team' and 'logo' stickers. I call the 2-panel stickers 'team' and the other sticker 'logo.' The logo stickers have either white or pink backgrounds, or white, blue, or sepia (yellow-ish) backgrounds. If they have white and pink, there are 2 white and only 1 pink. If white, blue, and sepia, there is one of each. The Cardinals have 4 team stickers, and the Angels have 2 team with the same puzzle back (wierd, but that's how it worked out, since each puzzle piece has 2 stickers assigned to it). Also, one MLB logo sticker, 3 NL Champs (2 white/1pink), and 3 World Series Champs (2white/1 pink) exist. Hope this helps!
Mike

12/5/2023 Update: The TCDB checklist currently has only 129 entries and appears to be missing the following three:
California = the second cap monogram/script where the "A" in "Angels" has a white oval near the hole (possible printing defect?)
Chicago WS = the second team script White besides the J2 background
C2 background confirmed on COMC and added
Cincinnati = the second team script White besides the A1 background
Los Angeles = the second team script White besides the H5 background
D1/H1 background confirmed on COMC and added
Los Angeles = the second NL Champs White besides the J5 background
F1 background confirmed on COMC and added
N.Y. Mets = the second cap monogram/script besides the K2 background
K4 background confirmed on COMC and added
St. Louis = the second team script White besides the H2 background
A2 background confirmed on COMC and added
St. Louis = the fourth cap monogram/script besides the B5, G5 and I6 backgrounds
San Diego = the second cap monogram/script besides the C2 background
A5 background confirmed by hondo500 and added

Bumping a topic from earlier this year since hondo provided images of the missing San Diego Monogram and I found the missing St. Louis Team White on COMC, we're down to three VARs that are missing from the checklist:
California = the second Monogram where the "A" in "Angels" has a white oval near the hole (possible printing defect?)
Cincinnati = the second Team White besides the A1 back
St. Louis = the fourth Monogram besides the B5, G5 and I6 backs
Mapping out the various backs we currently have in the checklist, we only have one sticker with a D2 back (Pittsburgh Team White) and one with a K3 back (California Monogram) and should have at least two of each, so these are likely the backs on two of the missing three.
We also have only three of the D1/H1 backs (Kansas City Monogram, Los Angeles Team White, Texas Team White) and should have a fourth, so that's the last missing back. (I call them "D1/H1" because I can't tell them apart just by looking at the scans.)
All that remains is figuring out the correct combinations. Since California Monogram + K3 is already a combination on our checklist, it seems like that could be eliminated, but until we actually know for sure, we'll leave it as a possibility.
