1970 Fleer World Series Baseball Forum

Does anyone have any interesting info on this set? I never heard of it until I got some cards in a 70s card lot that I purchased.  
 

It took me a while to find the set since the cards have a 1968 copyright but were issued in 1970.   
 

Was this nationally issued set, a local issue, any info?

A lot of my info, that I didn't remember from childhood, I got from the Fleer Sticker Project blog (http://fleersticker.blogspot.com/2008/02/1970-1971-fleer-world-series-cards.html)

I have the 1970 set. Still need a huge amount of the 1971 set. Don't have any of the original black & whites. I also have the 1981 sticker set that reprinted mostly the 1971 set (and filled in with the "missing" years) I think there are some back variations of that set that I don't have.

Thanks for the info!   They are fun cards.  Don't know if I will collect more, but I like the ones I have.  Maybe once my current want list gets smaller.

He also wrote an article about those cards in the latest issue of Beckett's Vintage Collector magazine which should be at newsstands by the end of March.

I remember these well as a kid. The gas statio I bought my cards at ran out of Topps for the year and I had to settle for these.
