1999 Upper Deck Black Diamond Football Forum

Is anybody aware of a 1999 Black Diamond misprint like the Randy Moss on the right of this picture?

I have many copies of the standard version on the left, but the copy on the right has a notably darker left border as well as a white interior and bottom. It looks somewhat like the card stock for the Diamond Cut parallel (which I don't have to compare), except without the die cut and still using the photo from the base card. Perhaps it's just a curiosity but I couldn't find similar images online.

It is a picture of 2 identical cards. The angle of the camera makes it look like 2 different cards when it is not. If they were scanned together, they would look exactly the same. No difference, no misprint, no variation. Just my visual opinion.

I have quite a few of these cards in my collection and there does exist some variations in the coloring when you have these cards in hand. I asked the same question of people and the response that I recieved was that it could just be a matter of the coloring process being at the end of a run for the lighter ones. You are not going crazy, they are different shades, just nothing more than a poor QC issue on consistancy of the ink.

I know nobody has brought this up but, It is slight variations like this that many people will jump to the "it's a fake" conclusion. Just because the ink is darker or lighter or slightly off center does not necessarily mean it is a completely different printing. or that it is a "fake". Time and time again I see people say some card is a "fake" when the printing is blurred slightly. You try printing several thousand copies of the same thing and see how many differences you get.

Thanks for the replies. I own the cards and took that picture, and they are extremely different. A printing variation makes sense, but it's almost as if they didn't apply a layer of the metallic sheen to the one on the right.
