Thankfully they had them handy allowing them to put out a points leader set, for the base cards well meh not urgent, maybe this year we get a tim hortons update set seeing how we are aiming at 2 rounds of cards per year.

Personally I'm starting to get tired of them ... too expensive for one. And a 125-ish card base set for a restaurant release is way too big. I think McDonalds in the 2000's topped out at 50 base and half the inserts. That's a perfect size for a 3-card pack.

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

Honestly for me it is just a cheap way to get the vibes of opening packs. Box pricing for almost anything here in Canada is out of control. I can justify 2 bucks a day since I'm getting the coffee anyways. And you'll be able to buy a full base set at a show for 10 or even 5 bucks soon enough

I would never attempt to build these sets. (Of course, I don't drink coffee and probably only go to a Tim Horton's about once every 6 to 8 months.) But hand-collated base sets can usually be purchased around here for $10-$15 and many inserts at $1-$2 each.
I think I'll skip this year's set, but if they make another "themed" set at mid-season (like the Legends set last year or Team Canada set two years ago) I'll buy that.

They definitely are too expensive, then again what isn't nowadays.
At over 75c per card tax inc.
I'm going to start packaging up all my cards into 3 or 5 card packs and offer them for a$ a pack for a cool 5 million(lol)
Whats this years print run around 8-9 million packs like previous years?

The notes here are claiming that the 'Wayne Gretzky Tribute' card had a print run of 1327 and was inserted at 1:12,000 odds, so that works out to 15,924,000 packs.

Assuming each card in an insert set is printed in equal volume (ie there are no short prints in the inserts) that works out to this many copies of each card in the sets.
Use accordingly when you see them priced at shows or Ebay. Even the rarest insert is the equivalent of an SN 33175
48 million cards printed to be sold in a nation of what 38 million ? Frowny face emoji if I knew how to speak emoji.

Never been fond of the term "junk wax" but this would be that except in a more expensive form.
Back at some point - for the younger generation, 1$ was a lot of money and dating myself totally -
I could get 10 packs for my buck and 10 sticks of powdery awesomeness.
It was also a time when you had 1 price guide per year and values were NOT the major focus nor purpose for our beloved cardboard
