1977 Pittsburgh pirates post gazette is also included on here too. I think these we're pretty cool. But I bet obtaining any of these would be pretty difficult. I'm not sure if they were ever graded by anyone though.

Thanks. I'll ask Admin. As to the question posed above about the cards being on Beckett or COMC, the answer is no, but not sure how that is relevant nor do I see it as a site requirement. To suggest that if a card set is rare and not yet widely known some how makes it not a card set, is an illogical criteria. The world is a big place with a lot of history so I suspect there are a lot of sets not on this site, Beckett, or COMC yet). I've found sets on here in the past (which is why I am a member here) that were not on either COMC (which is just a sales site if someone has a card in hand) or Beckett. I have cards from other sets in my hands right now that are not on COMC or Beckett (but some would probably say they are set just because the cards are thicker!). In fact the only reason I can't add them right now is because no site has a checklist for them. But they are thicker paper All I was looking for when I started this thread is someone to point me to specific language on the site that would give clear guidance. Based on what I've seen, there does not appear to be clear guidance so I'll ask the Admin, and if he says no, then OK. I will politely request him to add more specific language to help alleviate any confusion in the future though as this thread and many examples given seem to show that its not clear currently. I appreciate most of the opinons (particularly those that understood their points were opinions) and insights (those that provided actual wording from this site to support their points, examples of similar sets, etc) that were expressed as for the most part I though it was a thought provoking thread that hopefully leads to some clarity on the issue and this and past and future card (or non card sets if you think that way) sets. I'll let the group know what I find out. Thanks.

At this point that is what I would do.
I do see both sides and understand where most of the comments are coming from.
I have asked Admin about several sets listed here. Matchbook covers and Coke caps were the main ones. (as I wanted to added some more the the check lists) His reply was They needed to be taken down. As of now. There is more Matchbook cover (years and players) but only one Coke Caps set (football) is up. I'm wondering Do he miss it or was it added later or OKed it later. (to me it appears he missed it). Being crowd sourced anyone can add a set or card but does it belong here is the question.
I have some pocket schedules that are 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 that you fold up and put in your pocket. They are not allowed as the fold up. Yes there are some here. (last time I checked).
I would like to see some way when a set / item is wanted to be added or listed that have this issue. That we know Admin will look at it and give his answer. As I could say he OKed the schedules and no one would know for sure. (unless he catch me of course I woulld not do that). Just another thing we want him to do for us.
Yes if the criteria was more clearer it would help but someone would find something to ask about. As you state it is a big world of card collecting so it is hard to find and keep up with every thing.. Yes it would be nice for some to know about something like that but is this the place.
Personally as it is out of a newspaper I would be on the NO side but does not matter to me. I understand there are other listed.
Hope you heard back soon.

Some of that probably goes back to what Dan said early. They are things on here that were added when they shouldn't have. They may have been missed during a sweep, removed as they are discovered or added back in by someone who wants them there. Because they are listed doesn't mean they should be here. My thought is this, if it's a questionable entry by other, but approved by Admin then a Comment should be made for the set. "Approved by Admin for inclusion because of XXXX". At least we'll know that certain borderline cases were allowed and why.

Folding paper schedules aren't allowed but single piece schedules are.
I would consider the item in question just a fragment of a newspaper and not a card myself...I would get one if I collected that sport or those players but I would not consider it part of my card collection. Of course because I don't feel it should be listed will almost guarantee that it will, so good for you in this case.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. The one thing no one has commented on is that the newspaper that issued these meant them as cards, titling them "Eagle Card". I vote yes but I am not Admin.

Glad to see so much input on here from some of the "old timers" (not an insult just merely recognizing the length of time on the site). I love the hobby of collecting trading cards and frankly, if it is a trading card and I find it interesting, I want to collect it. If there was an Eagle Card of a player that I liked, I would certainly be interested in owning that piece of paper (which be honest all trading cards are just a piece of paper.) I think of this site as a place to database my collection and as a reference site for the hobby. Other than Beckett, is there a bigger database of cards than this site? Someone out there wants to collect "Eagle Cards" and show their existence by having them on here, then in my opinion, it should be allowed. Please understand though, I am not advocating for cards printed in someone's basement of their son's or daughter's sports team to be included or hey I want Ninja Warriors trading card set because I love the show and don't see one so I will make my own to be included either. Could guidlines be clearer, certainly, but then again the hobby itself has changed to include so many different things. Not so long ago, the 1/1 Printing Press Cards didn't exist and yet, they are now an essistenial part of the hobby. These "Eagle Cards" might not be a nationally recognized set, but they introduced someone into this great hobby we all love. Some kid out there cut every one of those out of the newspaper and put them in protector pages and loved them so much so that they started collecting nationally distributed cards. Also, for some these might have been their introduction to the concept of "trading cards" and that is important also. These "Eagle Cards" also fill in a hole in a player's career because some of those included in the set have played in the NFL (according to OP). Ultimatley, Admin makes the rules and if Admin says yes, then obviously they join the site and if no then they don't. I do agree though that maybe some sort of approved by Admin on MM/YYY notation on the more obscure types of cards could be helpful.

What?? No American Ninja Warrior cards or Ninja Warrior cards yet?? Someone is really slacking!!

Now you just need the other 74 cards to create the checklist.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Thanks to Newspapers.com, I've got them all, so it's just a matter of a ruling from Admin. I don't want to add them without that.
