1990 Fleer Football Forum

Hello,

I just wanted to bring to your attention there are two variations in this set that are not listed.  They both involve the same variation.

The cards are #290 Jim Covert (Bears) and # 162 Mark May (Redskins).  In both cases, the variation is, on the back of the card, there is a thin black line that appears in between the player's personal information and the "commentary" from Fleer.  Some cards have the thin black line, others do not.  The scan on this site of the Covert card has the line, the scan of the May card does not.

Just wanted to pass that along.

Is it just those two cards or all of them? I know one of the basketball sets around that time also had a similar issue

For the OP this is where Ed is coming from. It is trying to define how limited or wide spread this particular error is. If it's like the basketball set then the entire set is affected. Piece-mealing these additions is an ardous (yes, I spelled it wrong...) process for those that can do it. Similar to what just happened with the 2012 Topps baseball set it is easier to mass add all the identified cards with the error.

For the basketball checklist, I just noticed the "+" symbol there next to the card nuimber on the checklist to toggle the variants. I like that better than having to go to an entirely "different" checklist to indicate which variant you have.

Sorry for the late reply.  It is just Covert and May that I am aware of.

The VARs were added in July 2021
