So basicly, if the color differences fall within the same color palette,,, probably not.
BUT if the card color variation come from different palettes,,, probably a yes, at least a try.
Some are tricky, like ? Is green and gold different enough?

Technically speaking, palette is not the correct term here as palette is actually the entire spectrum of colors.
What you probably meant was more in line with color family.
So, what's the difference between having green printed on a card vs. yellow/gold printed on a card? Degrees of blue/cyan. That could actually be an inking issue and not a set up difference.

Sometimes I'm kind of happy to be colorblind

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

That set definitely has red and orange borders (along with green, purple and other colors), so it's possible there are versions of each for McMahon and Byner. I don't own either card though so I can't say for sure. A check on ebay shows varying colors depending on scan or photograph

The uploaded images of the "red" border VARs look like nothing more than a shade of the orange border. The oranges I have on hand range from very dark to a normal shade.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

So I checked my cards in both binder and error / variations binder and all I have for these is red versions, in actual fact all my series 2 cards are red.
my initial thought was they maybe red from the errors binder but now think it may be from different printings

It also looks like the orange is in the minority when you look at the scans, I'll message rayfromTexas as most of the orange ones are his to see if they are orange in hand

So, this post is about RED color that might have ORANGE color or visa versa.
If they were color variations, which is more prevalent?
And all series.?
Since I just pulled these to breakdown and resort, I'm looking at ALL RED? or ALL ORANGE ? or both.
Don't most colors more or less match a team, like Falcons are red, while Browns are orange?

For my set series 1 is mixed, series 2 is red and final update is blue, I'm hoping that the orange scans are actually red but show orange from the scanner

I've scanned a few cards from this set, it's very difficult to get the color to show correctly. I would suggest not going by scans, only going by in hand.
Orange is also a color most scanners have issues with. Take a look at 1999-00 Upper Deck NBA. Series 2 is very orange. It scans differently scanner to scanner, and even depending on what else is scanned at that time. If you do a page of 9 of them they scan more brown, but do them mixed with other sets and they show closer to the orange they are.
I've also had trouble getting an accurate scan of Philadelphia Flyers jersey material.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
