2019 Topps Update 5x7 Baseball Forum

First time I haven’t been able to find the card I’m looking for on the website.

That being said I need some help with this:

2019 Topps Update US237 Randy Johnson 5x7 SP numbered out of /49

I tried sorting by player and card number and just the regular sized SP comes up. 

Any help is appreciated!

However, since yours is a photo variation of the regular base card, it seems to not be in that checklist. The full checklist will need to be confirmed and uploaded - unless it's already up and I'm also missing it. (There are quite a few of the photo variation 5x7s listed on eBay - someone might be able to figure it out from there).

On a related note, can someone explain to me why the 5x7s for this set are listed separately? For 2019 Allen & Ginter, for example, all the 5x7s are listed as Mail-In Sets rather than as a whole separate thing. (I personally prefer the A&G way, because it makes them easier to find, but I'm unsure what the rules are).

Thank you so much for the help! I definitely saw the regular 5x7’s check list on the site and I’m glad it wasn’t just me who couldn’t find the photo variations of the 5x7’s on the site. I’ve been a member for a long time but this is my first time not being able to find a card on the site. I’d love to help build the checklist or whatever I can do to help. I have 3 of these Randy Johnson SP’s /49 and I’d love to add them to the site and my collection. Again thank you for the response and the help!

I did some more digging and found a 5x7 version of every SP except for US100 (Austin Riley) - all numbered /49. In the process, I also came across the SSP photo variation of US149 (Corbin Martin) in a 5x7 version. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say all the SP & SSP cards were produced as 5x7s.

My suggestion would be to submit an IR to the 5x7 set: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/280506/2019-Topps-Update-5x7. Explain that you have the Randy Johnson that hasn't been listed yet, and add a link to this thread so whoever fixes it can see the card first. Feel free to also mention that I confirmed the existence of most of the other SPs from the regular set do come in 5x7 form. Someone should hopefully add your card, (hopefully along with the others) and maybe I'll get an answer as to why the 5x7s for this set are listed as a standalone set in the process.

The SP/SSP sets are usually added as separate sets, not as inserts/related to the regular base 5x7s.

Yes, they will need to be. And we will need the full SP/SSP checklist to add the proper set.
