The idea of noting the Base cards is so that when you have a card that has one or two other VAR, it is evident in lists such as Trade Proposals and such. But this only works if in Note 1 it is marked as a VAR and in note 2 then is explained (I like it more when there is an explanation beyond simply stating "BASE" so that I know what to look for that identifies it as that VAR). The way it is now, the base cards will appear to not have VAR when seen in lists because Note 2 does not show up unless on the card's page. If both were marked as VAR in Note 1, then it might avoid the wrong card being sent in trades. This is only one example of where it is beneficial to have it this way.
I have argued this before that if there are 2 cards with the same # in the same set, they are both VAR of each other and should be listed that way. Somehow, many here think that only the second card is a VAR of the first, and not the other way around. I cannot understand that logic.
