The yellow & red, 1992 M.L.B.P.A. Vincentown NJ pin back buttons were thought to be produced as a promotion for the mail-order catalog company Carol Wright Gifts. The poofs which are easier to find in the collectors market than the buttons, are labeled Authentic, as '1992 Carol Wright Proofs' by PSA, and cataloged by Becket as such. These buttons, and the 'proofs' are merely bootleg, fantasy piece buttons.
JKA Specialties of Vincentown NJ, produced officially licensed, red & blue, 'Baseball Star Buttons' in 1992, that were distributed nationally. This set of buttons numbered 1-120, feature the licensing information along the rim that reads, "MLBPA Baseball Buttons, Vincentown NJ, ©1991 MLB." The unnumbered, yellow and red buttons, with the same Vincentown NJ, license information, but ©1992, were never produced by JKA Specialties. The so called 'proofs' were massed produced, and marketed on ebay. A set of proofs would not be printed in such numbers.
The 1-1/2 inch 'fantasy' pins feature a color player portrait photo in the center. Twenty pins that feature hitters have a red border at the top with a yellow border at the bottom. The other twenty featuring pitchers is reversed, yellow at the top, red on the bottom. All the pins have the players name at the bottom. The 'bootleg' license information on the rim of the pins reads "M.L.B.P.A. Baseball Buttons Vincentown, N.J, ©1992 M.L.B."
