I definitely want to try and collect the 1992-1993 Hoops set and am looking for boxes, just a question for anyone that might know. I am seeing some labeled "Skybox Hoops" and are these the Hoops set or the Skybox set? It's obviously confusing as image has NBA Hoops official card on the box, but the seal has Skybox. Sorry if I'm asking a redundant question. Thanks for any info!

NBA Hoops would be more prominent in the box and packs than the Skybox would be. Look at the packaging that is posted on the set overviews to get an idea and match what you're seeing.

"NBA Hoops" was a SkyBox brand. Much like "Bowman" is a Topps brand.

Hoops is actually an NBA brand, owned by the league. They contracted with Skybox to produce it.
That's why the Hoops brand has been made by and shows the markings of Skybox, Fleer, Upper Deck and Panini. Also no other brand listed in the early issue since it was the league doing it themselves.
Hopefully they will continue the brand under the Topps aegis going forward. With the league being heavily entwined with Fanatics I have hope.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Yes, I should have mentioned it was SkyBox producing them that year. And I've always thought we should be listing them as "NBA Hoops" not just "Hoops".

It's very helpful. Do you know where there is historical information about the Hoops series? Since 2000, it seems that Hoops has not been released every year, sometimes on Skybox, and sometimes on Skybox and Flyer together.

I'm not the most knowledgeable on basketball releases, but there was a time when Fleer bought out SkyBox and released sets under the SkyBox brand in may sports. This is why you'll see Fleer/SkyBox together.

Hoops was created as a joint venture between the NBA and Impel Marketing (which changed to SkyBox in 1992) in 1989 as a competitor to Fleer. Marvel Entertainment bought Fleer in 1992, then SkyBox in 1995 and merged them into Fleer/SkyBox International later that year, went bankrupt and sold them to the founder of Rite Aid in 1999, then Upper Deck bought the Fleer name during a liquidation in 2005. UD put out a few Fleer/Ultra-type products in 2006 and 2007 then pretty much ended that run. Panini acquired and brought the "Hoops" name back in 2011 as one of their brands along with Donruss and their own various releases.

Thanks for all the replies, I was able to verify first via a YouTube unboxing an then via purchase that yet, even with Skyhook on the plastic, it is the NBA Hoops set. Thanks @BigEd76 for the extra info btw, that is super fascinating stuff.
