1966 O-Pee-Chee Batman Bat Laffs Non-Sport Forum

I just acquired some of the OPC cards from this set.  When I searched for them on this site, I initially searched "1966 Batman" figuring, how many 1966 Batman sets can there be. The ones that showed up were not these. So after searching on google and finding several sets in both Topps and OPC titled "Batman Bat Laffs", I thought maybe the set had never been uploaded and went to ask for it to be added. But before I finished drafting that post, I thought just maybe this was another set naming quirk. So I searched "1966 Bat Laffs" and sure enough, there they were. So I ask, why is Batman not in the title? Pretty much everywhere I searched, they are titled "1966 Topps (or OPC) Batman Bat Laffs". And I found a complete set listed by Dean's Cards also referring to them as "Batman Bat Laffs". I think most collectors would search Batman for them but will not find them on this site named the way they presently are.

A second point, I believe this set https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/175317/1966-A&BC-Bat-Laffs is redundant to the Topps and OPC sets already listed. All but two of the cards only have the front image loaded, all by one of the point farmers. Of the two cards with the back images, one is the T.C.G., PTD. IN U.S.A., and the other is the great Canadian version, T.C.G., PTD. IN CANADA. I think the A&BC set should be deleted unless someone can come up with an actual reference that it exists in a different print than the OPC and Topps versions.

Over to the membership - I don't make changes in isolation whether I think I am right or wrong.

They were marketed as "Batman". Packaging only IDs them as "Batman".

IMO, "Bat Laffs" is not the subject of the set. Otherwise every back would have a Bat Laff on it.  But, using "Bat Laffs" in the set name, "Batman Bat Laffs", would help identify it from other Batman sets.

Thanks rmpaq for that find. So the set stays but I think all of the images should be removed and left to be uploaded by those who actually have the card in hand, not front images found on the internet (thought some of the membership were strongly against this when someone else took their personal uploaded images for their own site?).

Thanks Chuck for your insight. I agree that it needs to be "Batman Bat Laffs".

I went and added release notes on all three versions on how to distinguish which set cards come from based on the printing on the back. Should show up by tomorrow at the  latest.

EDIT: And yes I agree adding Batman to the title would be appropriate and helpful

There are also A &BC (printed in England) versions of other 1966 Batman sets (red bat, blue bat etc) that are missing currently. I tried to make checklists one time but it was too confusing.
