2018 Panini Immaculate Collection Baseball Forum

I've followed up with an email to Admin about this. i still believe it's organized incorrectly based on Panini's own checklist and base set logic.

I messaged Admin about this issue and they agree that there should not be any changes made about this set. I simply stated, "I saw the forum post and IR about this set. Cards 1 through 47 are in a subset called Rookie Patch Autographs. These are considered rookie cards even though they are not officially licensed. There are several parallels that are the same from the subset to the base set. However there are a few parallels of the Rookie Patch Autographs that would be listed under insert sets because the "base" cards don't have those parallels. I'm under the impression no real changes need to be made."

Call me crazy, but I like sets like this.

I don't see how it's different than 2018 Topps Archives baseball, where some of the parallels only span certain sections of the base set.

I don't care either way, as I dont have any of these cards, but if I was collecting the set, I couldn't call mine complete until I had one of each number.

The fact that I feel this way means that the opposite opinion is correct.

I'm with SDC on this one. JUST b/c the rookie subset cards are at the beginning of the base set (instead of the end like usual) doesn't mean they aren't part of the base set. For years, many manufacturers have done the same thing with RC cards being AU'd and/or MEM cards and/or SN'd cards. I see no difference here. Panini DOES list their CL's in odd ways on their site and that's their fault. It's up to us at TCDB to figure out the correct listing. Panini always posts the subsets as different from the "base set" due to their own database they use to upload CL's to their website. Now you guys see what I go through for every single NASCAR release they've made. I personally have to find the correct card numbers for the right order of the base set and all parallels. Just b/c a subset has different parallels doesn't mean it needs to be listed separately from the rest of the base and subset cards either. I know Immaculate and National Treasures make things even more difficult but base set is still base set, no matter if they have SN's, AU's, MEM's or any combination of those.

I've heard back from Admin, and I accept their decision, though I disagree with it. I've amended my stance a bit in that in this case SNs are part of the base because all their cards are SN'd. However, where I disagree, is that Panini doesn't list what we have as base - the RCs - and my point is that if a manufacturer doesn't call them base, then we shouldn't either.

Just an FYI, I don't have any of these cards either; my goal is simply to be accurate. I've been adding the peripheral checklists to this set in the meantime.

Thanks to all for working this out. I just got a scanner to get some of my newly acquired cards from this set added. Now that it’s clearer we can finish populating the checklists of the parallels. 

Panini doesn't bother to list the numbers correctly on their checklists either. Their ineptitude knows no bounds.
