2003 Playoff Portraits Baseball Forum

Like other companies, Playoff inserted "Sample" cards in magazines (in this case, Beckett) of their upcoming sets.  All the reports I have read on these is that the number of player cards issued is unknown therefore no one ever wants to put out a checklist. Considering we can amend / add / delete entries in checklists relatively easily on this site, could we enter a parallel set named "SAMPLE" with all 144 cards entered?  As members entered the images, we would slowly get confirmation of all of the existing cards (of which I suspect would be all 144 cards from the base set). Of course, if we do one of these, we would want to do all of them for all companies.

This would allow members to enter their complete collection into the database instead of having that "box" of cards not found in the database.

Thoughts?

Some are already on the Database. One even came up as Card of Day about a week ago. Go for it!

This is similar to the issue of the "Stamped buybacks" I brought up a little while back. I've conducted a little experiment I will let Admin know about so he/they can chuck it if they don't like it. If you go to 2015 Topps Allen & Ginter you can see I have added an insert set called buybacks. I entered just the one card to start the experiment, and I numbered it 2009-64, since it is a 2009 card and numbered 64. As these buybacks are collected and added, members can just insert them one at a time into the checklist.  There is no way of knowing a complete checklist as Topps just randomly took past Ginter cards and inserted them into packs. This way cards can be catalogued for collection here. Comments? I am going to alert Admin right now. If approved we can do this for all of the stamped random buybacks (I know Topps has been doing it regularly since 2010). There is no need for the Heritage Buybacks found in Topps Heritage, as that set checklist is known (it is the same as the year emulating and most of those are already in the database).
