Thanks to an eBay purchase that arrived today, I now sit at 18/150, or exactly 12% complete on this set. With 150 subjects, I don't know if I'll ever complete it. But it's been a fun try so far, and even after this latest lot (which brought in five new ones) I haven't paid more than $10 a card. I'm sure that will change once I start chasing some of the more popular schools, but I've got plenty more small ones to pick up. I still have two more sitting at COMC waiting to be shipped, and technically have the West Point card as well but I consider it part of my Army West Point collection. Hopefully I'll be able to find another one.
Not a large milestone, but a fun one nonetheless - mainly referring to getting past 10% complete on a tobacco set over 100 years old! I absolutely love these cards, not just for their history but also for the unique artwork on them. I discovered that they were extremely affordable (in my eyes, anyway) and relatively plentiful (so far) when I bought the West Point one, and decided to chase the full 150, seeing as I won't be purchasing any new product besides a handful of singles for the foreseeable future.
Anyone else trying to assemble a complete tobacco and/or prewar set in any sport?

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I am not trying to collect this set but I think that it is huge that you now have more than 10. I feel like these cards are hard to find and get them in good condition. Congrats man!

Nice job. I love the history of cards that are so old.
As with you it has also amazed me how affordable some of the cigarette/tobacco cards are given their age.
I managed to find some football (soccer) ones and one cricket from the 1930s in an antique store here and paid less than $1 NZ per card. I thought I had got a real bargin but when I did a bit of searching on prices I found out I did alright but was hardly going to retire on them!

I'm not currently going after anything pre-war, but chasing as many different Matt Kenseth cards as I can locate. Best of luck to you to be able to complete it. Congrats on the milestone.

Matt Kenseth card collection is nearing 50% with over 2300 different cards. Always looking for the missing remainders to get to 100% completion.

A milestone is a milestone and that's great. I'm working the 1914-15 Sweet Caporal World War 1 (T121) set. Well, I haven't touched it a bit. But I'm at 10% of 10% so you can see how hard I've been working it.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Hahaha haven't added that one yet. Is that considered the Billy Ripken of this set?
