I recently received #41 Lonnie Warneke from this set. On the reverse stamped in red was the following:
"FREE Sample Card – Get your pictures of leading baseball players. Three picture cards packed in each package of ‘Play Ball America’ Bubble Gum at your candy store. 1”
I read in one of the external links for this set that there was a promo issue for each of the first 115 cards in the set. My scanner is on the dead end so I cannot scan the card I have.
So.. what si the best way to add these samples as variations to he database?

They are not part of the base set. They would be listed separately as Samples.
We would need a confirmed full checklist, not rumor.

Though the first external link is a blog, the second one from the PSA Registry is an article written by Kevin Glew who seems to have researched this set extensively. He asserts that Samples were available from #1 to #115.

As well, now that I am home from work, I checked the Standard Catalog of Baseball cards and it affirms that the first 115 cards are available with the red promo back. I think these two sources should be sufficient to create a parallel Promo set of the first 115 cards.

Which version of the cards with 2 versions? All of one type, mixed depending on player, or both versions for all?

If we are to wait to see if every VAR is also stamped with the Promo back, then this set will never be listed. It is even doubtful if we ever find one image of every back just form the membership here. I would prefer if we at least list it with no VAR and once there is one image entered, if a VAR of that same card is identified, then we add it. This is not a modern set where someone can go in a LCS or a card show and buy the set to check for VAR.

Ok, cool. Go for it. Set name should be "Samples" and it should be listed as a Promo set in the related section.
