Using card #1 as an example, what's the difference between the border for the regular set (1A) and the factory set (1B)? They look the same to me.

I thought it all has to do with the format of the border background design. I think the factory set version has the blue section on the left and the black boxes on the right, and the pack version is the opposite. However is could be the whole Inc with a period (Inc.) or without a period (Inc) or with a lower case "I" (inc) thing.
It looks like for the Diamond King cards (1-27?) it is all about the Inc thing.

What I see for the Diamond Kings is that card A has the . after INC. Card C does not, according to the VAR description. However, the image shown for 1B looks exactly the same as 1A, front and back (at least to my eyes).

I just checked card #1 from my packed out cards and my factory set and there is no difference.
Do me a favor - please enter an inaccuracy report on either 1a or on 1b. I will add a comment, and mark it as Admin Needed as we're going to need some guidance of how to get it to show up when someone selected "Pack Version" or "Factroy Set Version".
Then, there will probably be a few others like that.
Brief history lesson, when the Factory Set version was added to the site, it was added as a "parallel" set. Over time, as other sets came to light to have multiple variations of almost the entire set, Admin decided that these "unintentional" variations should not be listed as parallels, but be listed as VARs within the base set. (Along the way, there have been other forum posts addressing this same thing "How can I tell the difference?" and "I don't see a difference".) Eventually, Admin moved the Factory Set into the base set. Now it's easier to see the cards "next" to each other. There are bound to be a few others that are not different. Let's get this first IR resolved with Admin, then when the others are reported, we can handle them in the same manner. Thanks.

Will do. I ran into the same issue with card #2.

Dan thank you for answering that. I have been losing my mind trying to figure out the difference in a few of these types of sets. UGH>>>>

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

I started adding the cards I have and I've noticed that most of them are using the same images for base and factory set. I don't want to report everything I come across, but I think it's going to be a common situation with this set.

Probably only with the Diamond Kings and a couple other cards. Many of them have the opposite design on the front and/or the text on the back is laid out differently. You really need to be careful with these. There are a lot more differences there thatn a quick glance will show.

I'm just saying that as I was going through the pile of cards I have and adding them to the database, maybe 50 different cards so far, 49 of them had the same image for both the base and factory cards, even though they should be different.

And I'm saying I don't think there are that many in the set that are 100% the same. I think you're missing something.
