Let me think back, 1987 ahhh yes I bought my first pack in April of that year for a convenience store on VA 20 in Locust Grove, VA. Was clearing land so my brother could move there while in the USMC stationed in Quanico, VA.
This was my 22nd year collecting cards and by now I was buying a set from a dealer, and putting one together by packs. I didn't like the gum, appeared to be getting tougher to chew and lost flavor fast. I liked Topps because of the number of different players in the 792 card set.
To this day Topps never said how many cards where printed, Remember the K-Mart Limited Edition Set. Only a 1,000 sets made. Price 50 cents. Some dealers where getting $2.50 for them. Little did we know that Topps meant 1,000 sets per store, per printing. Today that set cost maybe $1.00.
