My condolences to you and your entire family Chris. I'm sorry to say I never had any dealings with your Dad. He sounds like he was a really good guy!

So sorry for your loss Chris and thank you for bringing Dan's passing forward to us. Dan was a great member here on this site. I believe we made 7 or 8 trades plus he always added something on top each time. When I was newer to this site we made a trade, from that point Dan always provided me advice whenever I asked. Unfortunately we, Herbinator and I, were unable to meet up with Dan when he was here in Saskatchewan,I will miss Papa G 321. Thank you Chris, RIP Dan.

My condolences to Dan's family and friends.
Dan was the first person to contact me on tcdb shortly after I had created my wantlist and tradelist. He explained how trades work and provided many useful tips on how to make the most of the site and the great members here. He walked me through my first trade, then I was off and running. We would trade many more times over the years, and eventually we met up near his home over the Christmas holidays in 2019. It turns out he lived only a 30 minute drive from where I grew up so we decided to get together for lunch and do some trading while I was back home visiting family. He treated me to lunch at Boston Pizza, we swapped some cards (he had brought a bunch of cards from his collection that he wanted to give to me!) and talked about the hobby, and life in general. We planned on making our lunch a yearly occurrence, but covid had other plans and sadly we weren't able to meet again.
When I asked him how his collection had barely grown in size over the years despite him making so many trades, he said if he couldn't make trades to help finish his sets, he was just as happy to trade in order to help others. He would trade for cards that he didn't particularly want in order to help someone out, then flip his newly-received cards to another person to help them out too. That's the kind of guy he was. I will miss you Dan.

So very sorry for your loss Chris. Dan was a good man. I think I only made 1 trade with him, but we spoke once in a while about random things. He was a very knowledgeable person. He will be missed by a lot of people here and loved by a lot of people there.
May he soar with the eagles.
Rest In Paradise Dan
