A touching tribute to your kitty. I'm sorry you had to let your buddy go. You made the right decision. A hard one, but the right one. I've said goodbye to nearly a dozen cats in my lifetime and it's always hard. I just keep reminding myself that there was one less kitty who had to suffer or go hungry. One more cat who got the royal treatment they all deserve.

So sorry for your loss. My picture has always been of my cat/best friend Max, who I had to put down 10 years ago. He’s always in my thoughts and in my heart.
it’s tough now, but it does get better. Keep the good memories of Adelaide in your heart and you’ll get through it.

I am sorry for your loss. I know what you are going through. A few years ago I had to put my dog down. His name was Gizmo. I will always miss him.

Condolences for your loss as pets can seem much like family. I have had several pets over the years that I thought a lot of. One passed away earlier this year after having it since it was a few weeks old as a kitten back in 2009. Though pets (and family) have to eventually pass on, it is important to remember them through the good memories you had made.

Very sorry for your loss. We had to put our 16 year old cat to sleep in April, it still hurts. It sucks that pets are with us such a short time, but I think the joy that they bring in that time is worth the sadness at the end.

Sorry to hear that, fellow cat lover and also had to make that difficult decision with my first pet as an adult. It’s an extremely difficult decision to make and one that shouldn’t be made without great discernment. I feel for you.

Thanks to everybody that has replied here and via DM. I think I've had more sympathy here from the card community than anywhere else. We are all individuals with drastically different personal lives and sport / preferences, but are united in many other ways. Our love for sport and competition, our love for statistics and abnormalities, our love for categorically completing checklists, and of course our family, friend and pet lives. Time and time again over the years I have seen outpouring from the card community (real life, r/baseballcards, tcdb, etc) when life "hits the fan". I only have a couple people in real life I converse with anymore, and didn't even plan on posting anything anywhere. I checked out the tcdb forums for the day and was reminded of the "off topic" folder and felt compelled to share.
I have 3 children, but the loss of a pet is something different. A pet is the friend we all turn to when we feel the people in our life do not understand us. When the friends and family in our lives have let us down, we will always have our cats', dogs' and other pets' love waiting for us. Our pets live for only two things - food and our acceptance. If you're reading this, give your pet a nice long petdown. Let them know that are wanted and valued for what they are. Let the loss of a pet be a reminder to be nice to the humans that are in our lives and be nice to them.
Thanks again for all your support!

I'm sorry for your loss. I also have a sweet 12+ years old cat and last month I had to bring her to the vet for an emergency visit. She was finally just treated for an urinary infection, but the vet has mentioned the risks of renal complications in older cats. Scary stuff. I don't know what I would do without her. Before her, I had an old and grumpy girl that peacefully passed away at 18 years old.
