Dealing with a bit of frustration on Ebay searches and can use a bit of help understanding the issue.
When searching I've tried to go for specific cards such as: 1964 Philadelphia 51 Don Meredith. I'm aware of the split when it states "Results showing fewer words" will many times include other cards. Why does this come up as the #1 hit when I sort by Price + Shipping Lowest? I know there are several words that match, but it doesn't appear in the "Results showing fewer words" section.

Joshua, I don't know if this will help in your instance, but I've had just as much frustration with eBay searches recently and had to change things up a bit to get what I want. For example, I like to search for "[player name] 1/1" but that was giving me all kinds of unrelated results like Topps 1st Edition, cards that are #1, etc. It seems like changing the search to [player name] "1/1" has cut down on the stuff I don't want a pretty good amount. In your case you may want to try
1964 Philadelphia "51" Don Meredith

The item has the "Item specifies" listed as "Player/Athlete: Don Meredith". Therefore, based on eBay's algorithm it assumes this card is of the selected Player/Athlete, and appears as a relevant result to your search.

In addition to this, you can also enter a search term such as "Don Meredith -(Pettis Norman)". This is tell the search to find instances of the phrase/listings with "Don Meredith" and ignore any results that include -(Pettis Norman). You can also expand this to other players, either full name, first name, last name, condition, etc. This typically works on all search engines such as Google, eBay, etc.

This is great advice. I've added "-[term]" to eliminate other results I want to avoid, like Topps Bunt/Blitz digital cards ("-digital"), custom cards ("-artist"), and "hot packs" ("-pack)

Thanks for the info, I'd forgotten about the Boolean aspects, but at some point I'll have to accept some peripheral hits due to both Ebay and vendors inputting their data on their product.
How do you eliminate "complete your set" hits from your "complete set" searches?

Okay, I'm getting the hang of it. I was putting a space between the "-" and the word "your" and it made a difference. It should be "-your" and it works. Thanks!

I just purchased a set of 1980 Topps after researching for a while. I got the best results searching "1980 Topps set -break -team -pick".
