Just curious as to how many members here have attended an ABA game and did you have any exciting experiences with it?
For myself, I went to high school in Louisville from '74 - '76. Best friend and I used to go to Freedom Hall and watch the Kentucky Colonels every home game. We would "sneak" into the seats down front almost every game. One night the Colonels were playing the New Jersey Nets and the star player was Dr. J, Julius Erving. Ky had Artis Gilmore and Dan Issel to name a couple. After the game we went next door to the Executive Inn where all the teams stayed. We both walked in and looked in the restaurant and Julius Erving was in there eating. I told my friend I had to get his autograph. I had nothing with me at the time and went to the hotel gift shop. They had a copy of SPORT magazine that had Erving on the front cover dressed in a doctors "suit" with the comment "The Doctor is In". So I bought that and a pen and walked up to Erving's table and asked if he would please sign the cover of my magazine. He said "no but sit down. I'll sign every page of my story", which he did. I still have that magazine to this day!
