A stadium tour can be a very different experience from going to a game.  I have been on a Yankee Stadium and Lambeau Field tour.  I am not a fan of either team, however I enjoyed going behind the scenes of two iconic franchises.  I was a bit disappointed in Yankee Stadium, however, because the field was set up for soccer and all the flags around the field were for the soccer team.  So no infield, no Yankees flags, not quite the same.  But walking through the monuments was cool.

Some bucket list items:

Lake Placid - Miracle on Ice arena.  It was mentioned above - is it a good tour?

Los Angeles Coliseum - I want to see the Olympic angle of it.  If there a lot of Olympic history there, or is it all football?

Cooperstown - have not been since I was 10.  Want to go again.

Roman Coliseum - hey, its a stadium, right?

Honestly, any good sports museum with history and artifacts is interesting to me.

Although I've been 2 times nothing beats the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.  I would like to get to the other Halls of Fame.  Baseball than Football I think. I like Chuck's idea of Lake Placid too.  I also like the idea of going to the sites of old stadiums as well.  My dream was to see the Blackhawks in every city.  I got to about 12 of them but then grown up stuff got in the way.  Never got to the Montreal Forum,  or the old Flyers and Bruins stadiums.   

I'd certainly recommend the Roman Coliseum. An amazing structure that takes your breath away. It ranks at the top of my list of places visited. 

I really loved the Harness Racing Museum in Goshen NY. I went there mostly because it's the closest Hall of Fame and Museum to my house, with almost zero knowledge of the sport, and I loved it. It was fun, great presentation, great collection of artifacts, and it's the only museum gift shop that had actual cards for sale. The neat thing too is that it's the US's oldest continually operating race track, if I recall correctly, and the day we went there happened to be some teams out practicing. 

That's awesome that you mention the Los Angeles Coliseum. My dad had Rams season tickets in the early 70's so I went to quite a few games there. I even attended Super Bowl VII there when the Miami Dolphins had there perfect season. And to top it off, I worked there for 10 years starting with USC vs. UCLA in Nov. '83. I also worked there during the '84 Olympics with the food concessions company and I still have a few keepsakes from that time. In fact, one day between the morning and afternoon sessions (no fans inside at that time) of the track & field events, I actually made my way down onto the track and took a picture. Good times (I even met my ex-wife and ex-mother-in-law there)!

I've worked at a bunch of sports/concert venues in SoCal but to me the LA Coliseum is the largest and most majestic. All of the other places mentioned in this thread all would be great places to visit too. The Roman Colossem sounds especially intriguing. There's actually a stone from the Roman Colosseum on display at the LA Coliseum.
