The changes to the playoff format had me thinking. Not many people are complaining or even talking about the current playoff structure needing to be revamped. I hear people complain about many things about baseball. The speed of play, the stealing of signs, the unwritten rules, the defensive shifts, and many more topics of debate. What one thing in baseball would you want changed?
Over my lifetime I have seen the American League grow stronger and stronger and much of it, in my opinion is having a rule that benefits them. My one rule change would be to make the designated hitter rule universal.

Adopt the softball rule in extra innings...put a person at 2nd base.

I'd universally eliminate the DH.

I agree. I like watching pitchers hit.
Heck, I love watching most pitchers fail at anything that isn't standing on a lump of dirt and throwing a ball. For highly paid "athletes" they sure lack co-ordination in many other areas!
(By the same logic I love watching many QBs — or better yet kickers — do anything that isn't their core job. Halarity for all.)

Amen, last year's HOF inductions disgusted me. Not a single 5 tool player in the bunch.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'd shorten the season to 140 games. It would prevent November baseball and even give the players a few more days off during the season.
I hear they considered putting a DH in the NL, and while I like the idea, I'm not sure if that would mean they should expand the current roster or not. I'd be okay with having a 28 or 30 man roster.
I'd hate to see a runner at second in extra innings, and honestly I don't care how long a game lasts as long as I'm enjoying it.

Tough question. I do like the universal no-DH rule. I was fine with Edgar Martinez in the Hall, but I much prefer players who play defense. But I'm not sure if that's the ONE rule I'd change. I think it would have to be something to speed up the game. Too many pitching changes now. I'm as big a baseball fan as there is, but three or four pitching changes per inning is absurd. So I might go with the three batter minimum that's already happening. But I'm interested in other ideas.

I believe that the DH should be eliminated. I don't ever see the American league agreeing to drop the DH. How about during Inter lague Games the DH is used in NL parks, and not used in AL parks? This way AL fans actually see pitchers bat.

I'd do something about the payroll disparity.
I'd shorten the regular season back to 150.
