We've had talk about the NHL Finals, I think some NBA Finals, even some NFL Fantasy Football, but there hasn't be a thread yet for the World Cup? It's been on for a week now. I just thought about it, so just curious if anyone is watching it. I thought we had a few soccer (futbol) fans on here.
I'm not a huge fan, and without the U.S. in it, even less thrilled, but its live sports on network TV so I've watched a little bit. Was rooting for Peru in the last game, but they couldn't beat France. I don't really have a team I'm pulling for, more of a match by match decision.

I'm watching it. I'm pulling for Spain because I'm of Spanish decent. And I follow La Liga. It's been an interesting tournament. There's been a lot of upsets. I can't remember a World Cup where Argentina, Germany, and Brazil all went winless in the first round of group stage. And I've been watching them since 78. Jupiter, if you want someone to root for, try Iceland. Their fans are alot of fun, and it's a county of only about 300,000 people. They've already defied the odds by making it.

This Wolrd Cup finals has been odd with neither the US or Italy making it and then Croatia pulling off a major upset with the 3-0 win over Argentina.

I fell asleep watching the Croatia match, I wish I got to see it though. However I'll take sleep whenever I can get it.

Croatia's win wasn't that big. Remember Argentina made the World Cup on the last day of qualification. A lot of people seen this coming. Germany losing was big, very, very big.

I just turn it on to see score of game and plan to watch last minutes if tied or 1 goal seperation.
I did hear Messi played (for Argentina) but Alexis Lalas say that Messi isn't playing to be a factor in this world cup.
Fox Sport is des[arate for someone to star that they have a UPCLOSE PROFILE already done on. I figured out USA can't win because all our players grew up on flat ground, not in the mountains or hills and had shoes when they played as a kid.
Now I have been watching the ROYAL ASCOT Racing Love the bookies taking bets and you have to see who giving the better odds. The first race a house going off at about 35 to 1 won and owner was so sure of victory she never left her box while race was running, They had to wait minutes for her to make it to post race interview. And the lady doing interview had to get a hat on her head. Ladies wear hats to this and gentleman jackets and top hats. The Royal Family is in attendence that means formal affair. And I guess that means no open toed shoes for the ladies too.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

I haven't been paying that much attention to it since USA was obviously out months ago. I heard about Sweden surprising people so I'll pay attention to one of the lands of my Heritage. Need to dig up my old "Swede Power" button.

I've been watching matches here and there, particularly on the weekends. I don't usually watch a lot of soccer but I always enjoy the World Cup. And I will watch all of France's matches since my dad is from Paris and an avid fan. Allez les Bleus!
