Card Identification Forum

So I pulled the Joseph Addai card from this set in a repack box last weekend.  The back of the card states that the mem pieces on the card are game-used.  However, I noticed that every single card in the set has a gold colored piece of metal as the middle mem piece.  Does anyone know what that is actually from?  I could see it being from the helmet somewhere for some teams, but not every team in the league has gold metal pieces on their helmets.  Especially being from a Colts player, I can't think of where on the person a gold piece of metal would be from.  Any ideas?

I thought that was just part of the design and a blank spot. If it is some sort of game-used material then they reallyl should call them triples not duals.

Maybe it is just the design of the card then.  Interesting to use metal for it.

im thinking the gold, metal portion, is probably generic material they used to spice up the card. i have a few of them, but never touched the material. guess when i have time, ill have to put a magnet to it or tap on it with a pen tip to hear the metal twang. But the other is def fabric from uniform. 

The "metal" should just be a gold foil place holder on a Dual-MEM card. It should just be foil over cardboard. I bought a few boxes of SPx in MLB and NFL back when they were new. I've also acquired several more over the years. I'm guessing your card has cutouts for the letters A, F and C. Single MEM's would have a piece of fabric in the first letter, Duals would have fabric in the first 2 letters OR one in the first and last letters and the Triple would have fabric in all 3 letters. I can show some examples if needed.

If you do tap it with something, use something soft that would make a noise on metal but not dent foil or cardboard!
